Visit Sarlat

Sarlat is the capital of Périgord Noir and gastronomy in the Dordogne. It is a strategic point to discover the whole region and its sweetness of life. This medieval city has inspired many screenwriters and its market is the place to be to discover our magnificent terroir.

Our campsite in the Dordogne is ideally located, just 3 minutes from the historic center of Sarlat. We invite you to meet at the reception to learn more about Sarlat-la-Canéda.

Discover Sarlat

Our family campsite in the Dordogne, "Les Chalets du Périgord", is located on the heights of the town center of Sarlat. Less than 5 minutes by car, and for the bravest a 25-minute walk, the cobbled streets of the city are waiting for you. During your stay in Périgord Noir, we advise you to stroll through the old town of Sarlat and go back in time. The half-timbered houses from the Middle Ages are remarkably well preserved.

At nightfall, street entertainment takes over and makes children's eyes shine.

Every summer since 1952, the city has hosted the Games of the Theater festival. And in November, high school students discover the Film Festival.

The gastronomy of Périgord

The list of Perigord local products is relatively long. Come and discover and taste: walnuts, porcini mushrooms, cabécous, walnut oil, truffles, foie gras, duck breast and confit. The covered market, accessible from the town hall square, is open every day. You can also meet local producers on Wednesday and Saturday mornings in the streets of Sarlat.

Many events are organized throughout the year, around gastronomy such as the Truffle Festival, Fest'oie and the day of taste and gastronomy. Of course, you will find all these products on the plates of restaurants and farm inns around the Chalets du Périgord.
